Side Event – Addressing Implementation: Translating SDGs into National Development Agenda

September 23, 2015 by ADN

Addressing implementation:

Translating SDGs into National Development Agenda

With the support of the Government of Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Republic of South Korea, Asia Democracy Network (ADN) will jointly organize the side event “Addressing implementation: Translating SDGs into National Development Agenda” along with International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID), Beyond 2015, Asia Development Alliance (ADA), Center for Indonesia’s Strategic Development Initiatives (CISDI), TIFA Foundation, Ford Foundation, Hivos, Open Society Foundations.

Accompanied by an ambitious set of 17 goals and 169 targets, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be officially adopted at the Summit on September 25-27. On the eve of the Summit, it is in particular critical to point out how to integrate the globally consulted goals with the context of one country and to implement them into national strategies and policies. The side event will address the following core elements of translating SDGs into national development agenda:

  •  Identify effective partnership schemes
  •  Mainstream SDGs at a national level through the development strategies
  •  Develop an accountability mechanism or framework

With these elements in mind, the side event will have a variety of participants from government representatives, donor organizations and civil society organizations share their ideas and discuss ways to ensure an inclusive and participatory implementation of SDGs into national agenda.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 16pm to 18pm at the Ford Foundation Headquarter in New York.

For further program information on this side event see here.
