November 7-9, 2022 | Bali, Indonesia

Every year the Asia Democracy Network gathers 100+ democracy advocates from across the globe to discuss and strategize on how we can mainstream and progress Asia’s democracy narrative. We live in an era where democratic principles are being challenged in the disguise of democracy.

Forging a Stronger and Consolidated Movement for the Future of Democracy in Asia

We live in an era where democratic principles are being challenged in the disguise of democracy. The global spread of mis/dis information to sway public opinion and increased influence of illiberal forces has directly impacted democratic processes causing heightened alarm. During these challenging times, it is vital for platforms and spaces to exist to bring like-minded people together and build a coalition. The Asia Democracy Assembly aims to do just that through inspiring talks, open discussions, and networking of democrats.

This year’s theme of “Enhancing Consolidation to Address Democracy’s Challenges in Asia”, RISE-Asia will center on the power of storytelling and creative expression against injustices, disinformation, and in the promotion of sustainable democratization. ADN will gather influential democracy advocates to share their experiences of igniting the spirit of democracy amid the backdrop of Covid-19 Pandemic and the expansion of illiberal influences.

Slide 1

Envisioned to gather around 100 advocates from all over the region, RISE-Asia aims to trigger much needed conversations on what should be done to defend democratic values and bounce back from a continuously shrinking democratic space, building on the guidance documents produced by ADN and other pro-democracy allies.
