The Asia Democracy Network was made aware through news reporting1,2 of the National Security Division of the Police Department’s investigation to the $3000 HKD transferred to Chow Hang Tung in February 2021. In response to the request for clarification, the one-time transfer was made as compensation for articles written for our news portal the Asia Democracy Chronicles platform. The platform is a portal to display diverse perspectives and voices of the Asia region. Not only do we aggregate news on various issues happening in Asia, but we also provide a platform for different voices from the ground to express their opinion on current issues. Ms. Chow wrote two articles for the platform in which we provided compensation for her submission. For two articles written she was compensated 3,000 HKD. Providing compensation for articles published on publication platforms is common practice for writing platforms.
