In collaboration with the Asia Democracy Research Network and the Asia Democracy Network, a successful round table was held with Dr. Rajesh Tandon of Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) at the East Asia Institute, Seoul Korea.
Along with several experts in the field from South Korea a fruitful discussion was held on “Promoting Corporate Citizenship in India.” With an increased presence of Korean corporations in India, their role with social responsibility has become of great interest.
According to Dr. Tandon, more so with the passing of India’s Companies Act private and public companies are obligated to contribute 2% of its net profits to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Experts exchanged and shared valuable information and experiences on respective countries CSR projects. Discussions furthered into to the effectiveness of CSR and explored alternatives.
Dr. Rajesh Tandon is co-chair of the UNESCO Char on Community based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. He is also the co-founder and president of Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA).
