ADN’s Newest Members!

June 4, 2024 by ADN

The Asia Democracy Network is expanding! We would like to welcome two of our newest members; the ASEAN Sogie Caucus and the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact!

ASEAN SOGIE CAUCUS

The ASEAN SOGIE Caucus (ASC) is a network of human rights activists from Southeast Asia. The ASC works for the inclusion of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) in the mandate of human rights duty bearers in the ASEAN region. The ASC works for the promotion and protection of the human rights of all persons regardless of SOGIESC in the Southeast Asian region.

ASC is legally registered as a non-stock and non-profit organization in the Philippine under the name Southeast Asia Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression Caucus (ASC), Inc.

Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP)

he Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) is a regional organization founded in 1992 by indigenous peoples’ movements. AIPP is committed to the cause of promoting and defending indigenous peoples’ rights and human rights and articulating issues of relevance to indigenous peoples. At present, AIPP has 46 members from 14 countries in Asia with 18 indigenous peoples’ national alliances/networks (national formations), 30 local and  sub-national organizations. Of this number, 16 are ethnic based organizations, six (6) indigenous women and four (4) are indigenous youth organizations and one (1) organization of indigenous persons with disabilities.
