(Seoul, 29 May 2015) – Asia in itself has grappled with the diversity of culture and socio-economic backgrounds. In an attempt to bring inter-regional dialogue between the various sub-regions, the Asia Democracy Network (ADN) organized the round table discussion on the State of Democracy in South Asia inviting prominent activists and scholars mainly from South Asian countries such as Bhutan, Maldives, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. This panel discussion is to assess the state of democracy in South Asia by identify emerging challenges and opportunities to participatory democracy in each country as well as the common challenges in the context of South Asian region.
