August 12, 2015 by ADN

Asia Democracy Network Steering Committee member the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) in collaboration with Sri Lanka’s People’s Action for Free Elections (PAFFREL) is currently in Sri Lanka for an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to monitor the upcoming Parlimentary elections that is scheduled to be held on August 17, 2015.

The observation mission is comprised of 14 international election observers from 12 countries across Asia. ANFREL has deployed its observation team on August 6, 2015 and will continue through August 20, 2015 to monitor the environment of the  pre-election, election day, and post elections.

ANFREL has also invited delegates from FORUM-ASIA, also a steering committee member of ADN, to contribute to the observations focusing on the elections from a Human Rights perspective.
