Dear ADN Friends,
Warm greetings from Japan!
I am writing to inform you of a new programme Peace Boat will be organising this year.Peace Boat is organising a Special Global University Programme on “Social Cohesion in Multiethnic Asia: Nurturing Leaders of the Next Generation” from 3 to 14 October, 2014. We are now accepting participants between the age of 18 and 35 from Sri Lanka, Burma, Singapore, Cambodia, and Japan. We also welcome those who are not necessarily from these countries, but have a strong interest in the region. While we are aware that this is very short notice, we would be grateful if you could circulate the information among your networks or forward the message below to anyone that may be interested in this programme.

This new programme recently initiated by Peace Boat is offered in English, and targets highly motivated youth from Asia who hope to equip themselves with specialised knowledge to engage in global issues, such as peace and conflict, global warming and development. We are already partnering with various organisations and institutions, including the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, which has decided to provide substantial subsidies for five students as well as certify this programme to receive credit from their university. We firmly believe that this programme can offer students a valuable opportunity to nurture comparative perspectives that are so essential to contribute globally to tackling various pressing issues faced by the Asian region and the world today.
Please kindly see the text below for more details and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or queries related to this programme.
Yours sincerely,
Meri Joyce

Peace Boat’s Special Global University Programme – Now Accepting Participants for October 2014
Peace Boat is a Japan-based international non-governmental and non-profit organization that works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment. Peace Boat carries out its main activities through a chartered passenger ship that travels the world on peace voyages. The ship creates a neutral, mobile space and enables people to engage across borders in dialogue and mutual cooperation at sea, and in the ports that we visit.
This autumn, Peace Boat will organise a 12-day Special Programme from 3 to 14 October, 2014. We welcome future leaders of Asia between the age of 18 to 35, interested in interacting with other young Asian participants while engaging in discussions on conflict and social cohesion. The programme will be a combination of onboard lectures and workshops, as well as field visits in three ports of call (Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Cambodia). All programmes will be offered in English.
