August 2, 2014 – Bangkok, Thailand- Despite the seven day training kicking off on a Saturday the 30 participants from over 14 countries in
Asia were elated to start the Glocal Advocacy Leadership Academy in Asia (GALAA). Over the course of seven full days participants learned and shared experiences of advocacy in democracy, human rights, and development. Through various group work, participants learned about the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and brainstormed on future Sustainable Development Goals that can be proposed at the UN post MDG 2015. These exercises developed the participants art of negotiation and cooperation with each other. Participants also had the opportunity to make field visits to the United Nations Asia Pacific Office and the World Bank to ask some critical answers affecting civil society and the people of Asia.
What seemed to be a long training program, went by quick filled with enriching skills and creating bonds and network among the participants. Congratulations to on passing with flying colors!
